ABOUT

Hi, I’m Laura! ♡

I’m an Irish writer and journalist with over five years’ experience in mostly digital media (but also some print). Having worked for a variety of media companies in both Ireland and the US, I’ve recently made the switch to freelancing.

I’m well-versed in long form/feature writing, particularly in the genres of entertainment, travel, history, and culture. Aside from the usual researching, fact-checking, pitching, reporting, interviewing and, of course, writing skills that are all par for the course with journalists, other tools in my box include social media content creation, search engine optimisation, and basic photo/video editing skills. Like, I won’t be up for a Best Editing Academy Award anytime soon, but at least my IG pics don’t have bent walls and floors?

Other fun facts about me include the fact that I’ve lived in New York City (twice), I’ve been inside the White House (once), I’m a raving pop culture enthusiast (I have a Real Housewife in my phone’s contacts!), and I enjoy when a house style allows the use of Oxford commas (they’re less common on this side of the Atlantic). Several group chats have also dubbed me a “meme queen” – make of that what you will.

So, if you’re looking for someone who can write about anything - in either British or American English! - from historic global politics to the politics of a reality TV dinner confrontation, and who’ll likely subject you to a good meme or two during our correspondence, look no further.
